HNEC issues list and guide on candidacy for elections.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 10 November, 2021 (Lana) - The High National Elections Commission has issued a list and guide for “candidacy for the presidential elections” as part of a series of “Procedures Guide” issues that the commission has been publishing.
The Electoral Operations Department of the HNEC said that the regulation and guide for “Candidacy for Presidential Elections” to explain, and clarify, everything related to the procedures for “candidacy for presidential elections” such as: the electoral system for electing the head of state, who is entitled to run, what are the conditions for candidacy, when and where the application for candidacy is submitted and to whom it is submitted, what forms are required and documents attached to the candidacy application, the appeals, who has the right to appeal before the appeals committee, how the appeal is conducted, the final lists, where and when they are announced, when the candidates have the right to start their own campaigns and when they must abide by electoral silence and what are the general terms and conditions that are required to comply with, and the guide also included photos of the forms required to complete the registration process.
The Department of Electoral Operations added that the guide includes answers to many questions, including: If the candidate's name does not appear in the preliminary lists, what are the procedures followed in such a case, and if a candidate decides to withdraw, is it permissible for him to do so.
