The Supreme Council of State discusses with the elected mayors of the Libyan municipalities the latest developments in the political situation in the country, the most important of which is the elections file.

Tripoli, October 27, 2021 (LANA) - The Supreme Council of State headed by “Khaled Al-Mishri”, and in the presence of the First Deputy “Masoud Obaid”, the heads of the committees in the Council and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Local Government for Municipal Affairs “Mustafa Salem” held a dialogue meeting with the mayors of Libyan municipalities today, Wednesday, the elected representatives, at the council’s headquarters in the capital, Tripoli.

The attendees exchanged - during the meeting, which was joined by a number of representatives from the councils of notables, sages and civil society organizations - views on the developments in the political situation in Libya, the most important of which is the election file to be held on the twenty-fourth of next December, and ways to support the electoral process on sound legal and constitutional foundations.

At the end of the meeting, mayors of municipalities, representatives of the councils of the wise, and civil society institutions issued statements expressing their positions on the special procedures related to the electoral process.
