The company confirmed in a statement on its website that the clashes, which lasted for several hours, left several severe damages, including damage to 8 storage tanks for oil products and crude oil in the oil movement area and the operation of the tanks.
It explained that 5 tanks for storing base oils and chemical additives in the mineral oil mixing and filling plant were hit, which resulted in the leakage of large quantities from tank No. (T9 for storing base oil SN150). The company's statement indicated that the electrical transformer feeding the main station of the oil mixing and filling factory was also hit during the armed clashes, which caused damage to the transformer, in addition to damage to the ceilings of the halls of the manufacturing lines of the oil mixing and filling factory.
The company warned in its statement that such events could be a cause of major industrial accidents that may result in environmental accidents that may get out of control and cause disasters in the areas adjacent to the oil complex in Zawiya, in addition to stopping all units and operational operations of the oil complex as a whole.
The company appealed to all parties to give voice to reason to address differences to ensure the security and stability of the region in general and to preserve the safety of citizens in neighboring areas and users of the oil complex from accidents that may get out of control.
