President of Presidency Council Wlecomes EU Foreign Minister.

Tripoli, 8 September 2021(Lana) President of Presidency Council Mohamed Al Mnefi welcomed Wednesday EU High Representative of Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel, who arrived earlier on a visit to Libya.

According to the Council’s Communication Office EU-Libya partnership particularly in the migration file, national reconciliation, elections and security exchange were discussed at the meeting.

The President said he was fully prepared to support efforts aimed at holding the elections including issuing a presidential decree, within his competence, to back up the aspirations of Libyans.

On his part, the EU diplomat praised efforts of the Presidency Council especially in regard to unifying state institutions, the ceasefire and in the national reconciliation file.

The EU official said EU Commission was prepared to cooperate with the Presidency Council, to achieve national reconciliation and hold elections on set time, highlighting Council’s commitment to protecting human rights, which will positively impact elections with wider participation and better conditions.
