Al Lafi and Kupis Discuss Developments in Libya.

Tripoli, 8 September 2021(Lana) Deputy President of Presidency Council Abdullah Al Lafi discussed with UN Special Envoy to Libya Jan Kupis latest political, security and military developments in Libya and preparations for elections on set time.

Al Lafi’s meeting with Kupis also focused on the issue of national reconciliation, launched by the Presidency Council, and the recent release of convicted prisoners.

Al Lafi said the Presidency Council is serious about continuing with this file, recalling a meeting the Council held in April with the Minister of Justice whom it encouraged to close this file.

There was an emphasis, at the meeting, for unifying the Military and for asking the Military Commission 5+5 to put in place a plan for withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign forces from all Libyan territory, and to conduct free and fair elections.
