US Warns Against Obstructing Elections Track in Libya.

Tripoli, 20 August 2021(Lana) US Special Envoy and Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland stressed need for compromises to be given to meet Libyan People’s aspiration of holding free and fair elections as key to restoring stability and unity of the country.

 According to a tweet by the US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland he said he has spoken by phone with Presidency Council President Mohamed Al Mnefi on Thursday, ‘reiterating their shared commitment to holding December elections on time to meet the Libyan peoples’ expectation of free and fair elections in support of a stable, unified, and democratic Libya.

They also called on all parties in Libya to refrain from any mobilization that may be perceived as an escalation that could undermine the implementation of the 23 October 2020 ceasefire agreement, according to the tweet.
