Presidential Spokesperson: Libyans have the right to elect those who govern them, and the parties concerned have to give priority to the public interest.

Tripoli, August 18, 2021 (LANA) - The Presidential Council reiterated the need for the concerned parties to abide by their obligations towards the Libyan people by reaching without delay a constitutional basis through which elections can be held on time.

The Council's spokeswoman, Najwa Wahiba, said in a press conference today, Wednesday, that the Presidential Council stresses the eligibility of Libyan men and women to elect their rulers and calls on the parties concerned to give priority to the public interest and to overcome their differences to reach a proposal through which the elections can be held on time on the 24th of next December.
