British Ambassador to Libya: We support the election process.

Pulbished on:

Tripoli, 18 August, 2021 (Lana) The British Ambassador to Libya, Nicholas Hopton, affirmed that his country supports the course of the elections scheduled to be held on 24th December. This came in an intervention by Ambassador Hopton in the work of the dialogue symposium organized yesterday by the Ministerial Committee concerned with the support and success of the December elections, in the presence of the Prime Minister and a number of ministers.

Speaking from the perspective of the UK government, the British ambassador said: ‘I thank you very much for giving us this opportunity and I would also like to emphasize what all my colleagues in the diplomatic corps and diplomats have said about our role as an international community in our support for the elections. We were very encouraged and pleased to see this plan of this committee today, and what pleased me more is to see this distinguished cooperation between the Libyan government agencies in general.

“There is a clear agreement to support the election process, and there is an outstanding addressing of several aspects, not only the aspect of providing the necessary funds, but even the aspect of the mechanism and operation of these plans. We are really happy with that and we greatly support the continuation of partnerships between local authorities in Libya” he added. =Lana=
