Office of Public Prosecutor announces release of 179 detainees during the past three months.

Tripoli, 15 July, 2021 (Lana) - The Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the release of 179 detainees during the period from April to the current month of July, whose papers were not contacted by the judiciary and whose detention exceeded the legal period, or whose cases were issued decisions to release them.

The office confirmed in a post on its official page that this release comes within the framework of the commitment to address the contents of the reports prepared by the international and national committees and bodies concerned with human rights on the situation in Libya.

The office indicated that it was carried out during the period from 2018 to 2020; The release of more than (3000) detainees in response to the orders and instructions issued by the Public Prosecution Office and the treatments taken by the Department of Deterrence to Combat Organized Crime and Terrorism.

He stressed that judicial and administrative procedures are continuing to address the conditions of all detainees as soon as possible.
