Pulbished on:Ras Jdeir, 10 July 2021(Lana) Libyan nationals stranded in Tunisia have called on the Government of National Unity to assist them, after the Government closed down border crossing with Tunisia following a surge in Coronavirus cases.
A source from where the stranded Libyans are, said Saturday they arrived at the border crossing of Ras Jdeir on Friday, but were told that the border was closed, and were driven to the area of Al Zukra, inside Tunisia, in a waste land and harsh weather conditions.
‘Tunisian authorities told the Stranded people to select representatives to speak on their behalf with officials on the Libyan side of the border, they chose three, one of them was the source which informed Lana, but the officials on the Libyan side of the border refused to meet them.’
The Cabinet decided at its 4th regular meeting to close down borders with Tunisia for a week starting Saturday July 10, following reports of a surge of Coronavirus infections and an increase in the Indian variant Delta in Tunisia.
