Di Maio: Permanent stability in Libya is a priority for Italy.
Pulbished on:Rome, 8 July, 2021 (Lana) - Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio affirmed that permanent stability in Libya remains the priority for Italy, stressing the need for the Libyan people to be able to choose through free elections.
In his speech before the joint foreign and defense committees in the House of Representatives and the Senate, Di Maio said: "Achieving lasting stability in Libya remains the priority."
The minister clarified that Libya is no longer a country torn by armed conflict, but rather operates with a unified and legitimate government, committed to an institutional transition path, which will be achieved during the December 24 elections.
Di Maio indicated that he has visited Libya several times and intends to return there in the coming weeks.
