US and Russian in Agreement over Berlin 2 Conference.
Pulbished on:Washington, 25 June 2021(Lana) US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs Joey Hood said American and Russian delegations have conducted talks on sidelines of the Berlin 2 Conference on Libya, where both see room for cooperation on security issues related to Libya.
The Russian Sputnik news agency quoted Hood as telling reporters on Thursday ‘we held talks on sidelines of the Berlin 2 on Libya with all key players including Russia.’
Hood noted that the US saw opportunities for cooperation with Russia regarding Libya, and wanted to follow up on them.
In remarks over the understanding between Ankara and Moscow over withdrawal of foreign fighters, Hood called on ‘Russian, Turks and all parties to pull out all foreign forces from Libya immediately, even if they were conventional forces, mercenaries and others, stressing that the best way for Libya is that countries wishing to establish security agreements with it, do it after a government is in place and which represents the will of the Libyan people.
