Military Committee 5+5 Winds up Meetings in Sirte with Warning to Obstructers of Re-opening of Coastal Highway.

Sirte, 29 April 2021(Lana) The Military Committee 5+5 has wound up its 4th meeting here on Thursday, and issued a statement in which it said it liaised with the executive authority to resolve difficulties facing re-opening of the coastal highway and come up with proper solutions.

The Committee warned against any attempts to obstruct re-opening of the highway, affirming that it would name the obstructers so that measures can be taken against them.

The Committee said it has chosen the Joint Military Force which would headquartered in Sirte and tasked with executing the missions assigned to it, and would be deployed in the two regions defined by the Committee, and the Force’s command will be tasked to merge personnel from both sides, who will be re-deployed to the defined camps.

The Committee welcomed UN Security Council Resolution No 2571 of 2021, which called for full implementation of the Ceasefire reached on October,23, 2020, and urged member states to respect the ceasefire including withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya without delay and to endorse the ceasefire monitoring mechanism.

The Committee held the meeting in Sirte from 25-29 April.
