Italian Envoy to Libya: We Need to be Close to Libya to Create Right Conditions for Free Elections in December.

Rome, 27 April 2021(Lana) Italian Envoy to Libya Pasquale Ferrara said it was important to remain close to Libya by supporting international organisations such as UNSMIL, to create right conditions for free elections on Dec. 24.

The Government of National Unity is a transitional government but still must do things which are essential to the electoral process, by defining the legal basis for holding the elections, Ferrara told a non-official hearing by the Italian Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee.

Future goals include execution of the ceasefire, pull out of foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya and resolving the problem of electricity, Ferrara added.
