French media cast doubt on the involvement of Russian Wagner mercenaries in the killing of Marshal Debi.

Paris, April 24, 2021 (LANA) - French media outlets have expressed their belief in the involvement of mercenary fighters from the Russian "Wagner" company and others, present in Libya, in the injury of the late Chadian President Idris Debi with a bullet in the chest before he was killed, and went so far as to directly hint at the presence of a French-hand also in the incident.

The African World website "Mond Africa" announced, on Friday, its suspicions about the involvement of "Wagner mercenaries" who are in Libya in the murder of the Chadian president "unless the French are also." This is based on the contents of the message of the United Nations Group of Experts on Libya published in March 2021, which indicated that the National Resistance of the Accord Front for Change in Chad led by Mahdi Ali Muhammad was present in southern Libya, claiming to protect oil installations, “in addition to the work of Syrian mercenaries, associated with eastern Libya side by side with the private security company (Wagner), which could constitute an indication of the shadow of these people in the killing of Idris Debi Itno, in addition to other Chadian rebel movements, so the report says that Russia sees fit to support the killers of this military partner of France in the middle of Africa and the Sahel.’’

But the French magazine "John Afrique" reviewed in its weekend issue "Thursday" the last times before the death of Idris Debi as a result of a gunshot wound that penetrated the chest and then the kidney, expecting that the shot came from an altitude of any plane.

The magazine also confirms that the French aviation was present in the theater of operations, which was confirmed by Mahdi Ali Muhammad, on the night of Debi’s death, to French Radio, saying: “The French air force flew over us.”

John Afrique, says that the Russian expansion in Africa is a "French annoyance." "It is clear that relations between Chad and Russia have improved slightly in recent years due to Moscow's rapprochement with the Chadian authorities, embodied in what businessmen from Russia announced in March 2018 in N'Djamena, about investments worth 7.5 billion euros are mainly related to building an international airport, oil refinery, solar power station and rebuilding the power supply system.

In turn, the French newspaper "Le Pignon Journal" asked about the next step for Paris in Libya and the Sahel region, and whether it failed to impose security and coexistence in a region that has allocated a lot of financial and human resources over the past years. Pointing out: "The killing of the Chadian president by a rebel group coming from Libya puts the Elysee policy in the countries of the African Sahel facing many questions."

It pointed out that “the Chadian rebels diverted their operations from Libya to the border with Chad after their participation in the Tripoli war and the failure of the Libyan militants in the east to seize the capital, as they refused to remain in the shadows and left Al-Jufra military base to be stationed in the far south of Libya, where they received support there, and then were able to enter. to Chad and face Idris Debi face to face''.
