Italian Minister of Economic Development confirms his country's readiness, along with the international community, to support the new Libyan authorities with full respect for their sovereignty.
Pulbished on:Rome, April 24, 2021 (LANA) - The Italian Minister of Economic Development, "Giancarlo Giorgetti," affirmed that his country's authorities are fully prepared to support the efforts of the Libyan authorities, along with the international community, with full respect for their sovereignty.
This came when he met yesterday, Friday, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Najla Al-Manqoush, at the ministry’s headquarters, according to a memorandum issued after the meeting, which was described as lengthy and cordial,” during which “the main issues of bilateral economic cooperation” were discussed between Rome and Tripoli.
In his statements carried by the Italian agency AKI, "Giorgetti" expressed his appreciation for the national reconciliation process that began a little more than a month later with the inauguration of the new national unity government, "expressing’’ hope that the institutional transition process will culminate in the elections next December."
Regarding economic issues, Giorgetti stressed that “the Italian government and companies view Libya as a distinguished partner, and in his work as Minister of Economic Development he intends to strengthen this partnership and re-launch it in sectors of common interest, ranging from the coastal highway project to civil aviation and economic-industrial cooperation.”
