Head of National Unity Government Says Solution to Migrant Issue is strengthening of Cooperation between Libya and Europe.

Rome, 30 March 2021(Lana) The Head of the National Unity Government Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba has said the only solution to the problem of illegal migration from south Mediterranean was the strengthening of cooperation between Libya and Europe.

In an interview with the Italian Corriere Della Sera on Tuesday, Al Dbeiba said ‘Libyans are the first victims of illegal migration, we are no different to Italy, Greece, France, Turkey and other countries affected by this phenomenon, therefore we should all sit together on the table, to protect our borders, and alleviate the suffering of those fleeing war, hunger and poverty.’

‘We are talking about a humanitarian problem, not  geo-political or security ones, and we should help the countries that the migrants come from, he added.
