In First Remarks after Arrival: French Ambassador Says Last Days Have Been Eventful and Distinguished for Bilateral Relations.

Tripoli, 29 March 2021(Lana) French Ambassador to Libya Beatrice du Hellen said she was committed to work to promote relations between Libya and France, saying the last days have been eventful and distinguished as far as bilateral relations are concerned.

The French Ambassador was speaking exclusively to the Libyan News Agency after arriving in Tripoli on Monday for the re-open of the Embassy after years of closure. I am determined to work vigorously to promote relations with the Libyan authorities and the Libyan people who hosted me, she said.

Following the visit, The President of the Presidency Council Mohamed Al Mnefi and his Deputy Musa Al Koni made to France, and during which they met President Macron and the visit by French Foreign Minister Le Drian along with his German and Italian Counterparts, the French Ambassador described bilateral relations between Tripoli and Paris as distinguished and said the last days have been eventful.

‘We are honoured by the visit Al Mnefi and his Deputy made to France, his first foreign trip, the Ambassador said, indicating that the cordial talks he had with President Macron have reaffirmed that their viewpoints were identical particularly regarding issues in the Mediterranean, North Africa and Sahel states.

  The Ambassador said the visit that French Foreign Minister le Drain made to Tripoli along with the Italian and German Foreign Ministers was designed to reassure Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba and Foreign Minister Najla Al Mangoush of European full support for the National Unity Government.

The Ambassador renewed France’s support to Libya in its quest for stability, unity, sovereignty and in combating the CoronaVirus pandemic.
