China: Development in Libya has entered a new stage, and the international community must create appropriate conditions for this country.

New York, March 26, 2021 (LANA) - China's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dai Ping, called on all political parties in Libya to continue pushing the political process under the leadership of the new government in accordance with the roadmap, and to address differences by peaceful means through dialogue and consultations.

Dai Ping said in a video conference of the UN Security Council devoted to discussing developments in Libya, Wednesday, that ‘’his country praises the formation of the national unity government in Libya, and hopes that it will assume all executive functions as soon as possible to end the long-standing fragmentation and achieve national unity and political stability’’.

He indicated that the international community must create the appropriate conditions for this, calling on the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, led by "Jan Kubis", to strengthen coordination and cooperation with all parties and international and regional organizations in providing assistance directed to the political transition in Libya, especially with regard to the general elections.

China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations said that the political process in Libya continues to advance and the people have started a new dawn, stressing that the country's development has entered a new stage.

He also expressed his sincere hope that all parties in Libya will put the interests of the country and its people first, maintain the current momentum and continue to redouble their efforts, and work together to bring about lasting peace and development.

Dai Ping called on the national unity government in Libya to increase its contribution to economic and social development and restore public services in the near future, so as to effectively improve the people's livelihood.

He also called on the international community to actively support Libya in combating the epidemic and help the country achieve development at an early date.
