EU renews its support for the national unity government.
Pulbished on:Brussels, March 26, 2021 (LANA) - The European Union has renewed its support for the national unity government, according to its needs and priorities.
This came from the High Representative for the European Union’s foreign policy, Josep Borrell, during a phone call he had with the head of the national unity government, Abdel Hamid Dbaiba.
The Italian news agency AKI quoted a statement by Borrell’s office that the latter congratulated Dbaiba on the formation of the interim government that should lead the country until next December’s elections, and “welcomed the efforts and determination of the new executive body to restore national unity and open the door to peace and reconciliation for Libya’’.
The statement stated, the High Representative of the European Union suggested to Dbaiba to work together in areas in which the united European bloc could provide important skills, such as institution building, economic governance, and preparation for national elections.
Borrell and Dbaiba, according to the statement, stressed the importance of "supporting the stability of Libya, strengthening its unified institutions, and ensuring the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
