International Affairs Editor: Political and Diplomatic Activities can Help Regain Initiative from Foreign Players and Reconstruct Libyan Internal House.

Pulbished on:

Tripoli, 24 March 2021(Lana) Lana’s international affairs editor has welcomed the diplomatic activities being exerted by the new executive power in Libya, to regain initiative and Libyan decision.

Commenting of the visit by the President of the Presidency Council Mohamed Al Mnefi and his Deputy Musa Al Koni to Paris, the editor wrote ‘the executive officials of the new government wasted no time to kickstart diplomatic moves in international capitals, to assert their authority and regain Libya’s decision from foreign and regional powers which controlled it because of political division and struggle for power in the last decade.’

The editor noted that the talks which the President of Presidency Council and his Deputy held with French President in the Elysee have touched on a number of dormant issues including, and foremost, the issue of irregular migration, as well as security at Libya’s southern borders, the thing that Al Kone highlighted in the joint press conference with Macron.

The editor said the recent diplomatic flurry aimed at restoring the posture of the state has sent clear messages to the inside and also to the outside of Libya, which is still acting on the background of the political division, that the Paris visit has already borne fruit by President Macron’s announcement of return of the French Embassy to work from Tripoli as of Monday.

The editor concluded by saying ‘the return of the diplomatic mission of a country like France, in spite of its symbolism, constituted a massive support for the new executive authority to turn around the crisis-ridden political atmosphere, namely to seek to alleviate the suffering of the Libyan people, improve the quality of services, and overcome political division and the side effects of a difficult decade.
