The US National Security Adviser, during his congratulations to the Libyan people on the national unity government, affirms his country stance with this government.

Washington, March 13, 2021 (LANA) – US National Security Adviser "Jake Sullivan" congratulated the Libyan people for forming a national unity government, which will direct Libyans to the elections scheduled to take place next December.

"All Libyans deserve this opportunity to choose their leaders through the democratic process, restore their sovereignty away from foreign interference and violence, and secure a brighter future after painful years of conflict and political turmoil," Sullivan said in a statement.

He added: ‘’The United States stands with all those committed to the elections, in support of the mediation of the United Nations, indicating that America will work to strengthen accountability for any party seeking to undermine the electoral roadmap drawn up by the Libyans’’.

He concluded by saying, "Now is an opportunity for the Libyans to lay down their weapons, peacefully resolve their differences, and participate in a new era of law and order, to write for themselves a more stable and prosperous chapter in their history."
