Security Council welcomes the approval of the House of Representatives on the national unity government.

Tripoli, March 13, 2021 (LANA) - The UN Security Council welcomed the Libyan Parliament's approval of the new national unity government.

In a presidential statement issued late last night, according to the local time of Libya, the Security Council called on the national unity government to prepare for free and fair elections on the appointed time of December 24, and to provide services to the Libyans.

The Council also called on all parties to fully implement the ceasefire agreement in Libya, and for the withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign forces from Libya.

In its presidential statement, the UN Security Council recognized the need to plan for the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of armed groups in Libya.
