US Welcomes Granting of Confidence to GNU.

Tripoli, 11 March 2021(Lana) US State Department has welcomed granting of confidence to the Government of National Unity led by Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba.

In a press statement US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said ‘this marks an important development on the track of executing the roadmap adopted by the Political Dialogue Forum to create a viable national unity government.

‘We encourage the new leadership to take the necessary steps to ensure that free and fair elections are held on Dec 24 this year, as a key step to reach a solution that ends a decade-long conflict.

He noted that his country calls on all parties to keep the positive development and support a full implementation of the ceasefire, respect the UN-imposed arms embargo, end foreign intervention including withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries, Blinken said, asserting that his country stands alongside the Libyan people in their quest for lasting peace and security.
