Arrival of 140 deputies to venue of the House of Representatives session in Sirte to give confidence to the Government of National Unity.
Pulbished on:Tarablus, 8 March, 2021 (Lana) - Member of Parliament for the city of Al-Jufrah, Dr. Ismail Ali Al-Sharif, confirmed the complete arrival of 140 deputies to the venue of the House of Representatives session in Sirte to give confidence to the government of national unity.
In a telephone conversation with the Libyan News Agency, he added that consultations are continuing at the venue of the session in the Ouagadougou Hall between the members to agree to vote to give confidence.
It is assumed legally that the entry into force of any decision or law taken by the House of Representatives has obtained the approval of - at least - half of its members +1, so that the approval was done according to a quorum.
In the current Libyan Parliament, the number of members reaches 200, according to the number of electoral districts in the length and breadth of the country. But the current situation of the Libyan Parliament is as follows:
The actual number is only 178 deputies. Which means that the number 200 decreased 22 members, and the shortage occurred for the following reasons:
Three (3) constituencies for which members could not be elected due to "force majeure".
Five (5) representatives passed away.
Five (5) deputies who did not join the council in compliance with a court ruling.
Four (4) MPs have resigned.
Four (4) MPs held other positions.
One deputy is absent.
Therefore, the legal quorum for the adoption of any decision or law taken by this council,
It is 89 + 1 = 90 members.
