Al-Sayeh reviews with the new UN envoy to Libya the commission's readiness to implement the electoral elections at the end of this year.

Tripoli, 18 February (Lana) Chairman of the High National Elections Commission, Dr. Imad Al-Sayeh, met this afternoon at the headquarters of the Commission in Tripoli, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Jan Kubis.  

The meeting focused on discussing some important points centered on the readiness of the commission to implement the electoral requirements set for the end of this year.

 The meeting also discussed the difficulties and obstacles facing the commission in implementing this entitlement, in addition to discussing and reviewing the various political positions of the parties involved in the peaceful transfer of power, scheduled for December 24th.

The meeting reviewed the role of the new executive authority in fulfilling its promises and obligations in support of the requirements of holding elections in accordance with international standards and principles.

The two sides also discussed international support, especially that provided by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya in the field of technical and advisory support.

 The meeting was attended by a member of the HNEC, Abdel-Hakim Balkheir, the chief election advisor in the United Nations mission "Pantolic", the assistant secretary-general and the mission coordinator, Rizdon Zitinga, the assistant secretary-general and the humanitarian affairs coordinator, Georgette Gagnon.
