The Sahel and Sahara group expresses its satisfaction with the formation of the national unity government in Libya.

N'Djamena, February 18, 2021 (LANA) - The heads of the five African Sahel and Sahara countries welcomed the progress made in the framework of the peace process in Libya and the selection of a president for the Presidency Council and a head of the national unity government in Geneva recently, under the auspices of the United Nations and the African Union.

This came during a joint statement issued by the presidents of Mauritania, Chad, Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso, at the end of their seventh summit on Tuesday night. The Mauritanian President Mohamed Sheikh Al-Ghazwani said, in a speech on the Libyan crisis: (I record the Sahel Group's satisfaction with the last agreement that was signed among the Libyans in Geneva under the auspices of the United Nations, which is a lead for optimism about a lasting solution to this crisis).
