Tunisian president renews his country's readiness to support Libya in transition to permanent legitimacy.
Pulbished on:Tunisia, 15 February, 2021 (Lana) - Tunisian President Kais Saeed renewed his country's readiness to contribute to the success of the current and future stage in Libya, especially since Tunisia hosted the Libyan Political Forum meeting last November, which was the beginning of a series of meetings that ended with the announcement of the new executive authority, to manages the transition period prior to holding the general elections in December 2021.
This came during the meeting between President Saeed and the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya Jan Kubis at the Carthage Palace on Monday morning, according to the statement issued by the presidency and reported by the Tunis Africa News Agency.
President Saeed said that ‘Libya is on the verge of a new stage in its history, following the impact of recent political agreements, and embarking on the path of transition from temporary international legitimacy to permanent internal legitimacy’, stressing his country's readiness ‘to put all its capabilities to contribute to the success of this stage, based on fraternal ties. The distinguished group that brings together the Tunisian and Libyan peoples’. The Tunisian president considered that ‘the success of the United Nations mission in Libya is a success for Libya, Tunisia and the entire region’.
The Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Jan Kubis, affirmed his readiness to “continue consulting and coordinating with Tunisia and benefiting from its expertise and experience in order to reach a final political solution to the current crisis.
