US State Department renews support and encouragement for Libyan people in building their unified state.
Pulbished on:Washington, 7 February, 2021 (Lana) - The US State Department announced its support and encouragement for the Libyan people in their quest to build their state and continue their work to end the conflict.
In a statement published by the US embassy in Libya on its official Facebook page, the State Department affirmed its support for the Libyan vision that Libya be a unified country of peace and stability with an inclusive government that can secure the country and meet the economic and humanitarian needs of its people.
It also praised the roles played by the Acting Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Williams, as she left her position and what she had done in advancing peace.
The US State Department said in its statement that Stephanie demonstrated in these roles that she possesses extraordinary diplomatic skills that reflect creativity and determination to bring together the Libyan parties within the framework of the political process facilitated by the United Nations, which resulted in the October 23 agreement for a nationwide ceasefire.
