Discussing strengthening aspects of economic cooperation between Libyan oil companies and their British counterparts.

Tripoli, February 6, 2021 (Lana) - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation, Eng. Mustafa Sana’allah, received in his office in the capital Tripoli, the UK ambassador to Libya, Nicholas Hobton, and his accompanying delegation.

During this meeting, a number of issues were discussed, the most prominent of which was the need to preserve the independence of the National Oil Corporation and its prominent role in supporting the national economy, and ways to enhance economic cooperation between the Corporation and British companies and their contribution to the development of the Libyan oil and gas sector, according to the sources of the National Oil Corporation.

Sana’allah praised the UK’s support for the National Oil Corporation over the past years, appreciating its support and stance for the Libyan oil sector, noting that the National Oil Corporation is looking forward to expanding cooperation and investment with British oil and energy companies, and to benefit from its expertise to advance and develop the Libyan oil sector.

Ambassador Nicholas Hobton confirmed that the unification of the Libyan government will contribute to the rapid return of stability. He also indicated that with a single national unity government, the National Oil Corporation will be able to obtain the necessary budgets smoothly to carry out the necessary maintenance work for its facilities, and enable it to implement its projects and future plans to increase rates of production.
