Operational materials for DNA analysis to identify corpses recovered from mass graves in Tarhuna delivered.

Tripoli, 3 February 2021 (Lana) - Head of the Search and Identification Authority for Missing Persons, Dr. Kamal Al-Siwi, announced that all operational materials for DNA analysis that the authority needs to identify the bodies recovered from the mass graves in Tarhouna and compare them with samples of the victims' families have been delivered. 

 This came during his meeting on Tuesday in Tripoli with a member of the House of Representatives for the municipality of Tarhuna, Abu Bakr Saeed, and the head of the Steering Council of Tarhuna municipality, Mohamed Al-Koshar.

 During this meeting, the latest developments were clarified regarding conducting DNA tests for the families of the missing and creating a database for them.

The Director of Laboratories Department at the Authority, Dr. Bashri Al-Gharous provided a detailed explanation and a presentation of the results obtained recently.

 Al-Siwi underlined that the commission intends to start conducting tests to calibrate the materials in principle, to begin in the coming days actual analyzes of samples that were withdrawn from the families of the victims in Tarhuna.

Then, a tour was made of some departments and divisions within the authority and reviewed the project to establish the morgue for the authority, which is nearing completion.

 A member of the House of Representatives, for Tarhouna, Abu Bakr Saeed, expressed his thanks and appreciation for the seriousness and eagerness he touched, and praised the role of all the Authority's employees and its relentless efforts to address the missing persons file.
