Pulbished on:

Tripoli, 1 February 2021(Lana) The Supreme Council of Amazigh announced that it was boycotting the referendum on the draft constitution in the cities and town affiliated to it, and said it would not be bound by any results of this referendum.

In a statement, the Council rejected the outcome of the Hurghada legal committee meeting over the referendum on the constitution draft, dismissing it as being based on coercion rather than consensus.

The Council said it regretted ignoring by brethren in faith and homeland of their rights, threatening practical steps including introduction of a fourth administrative province, and a special Amazigh constitutional document.

The statement stressed Council support for any constitution that’s written inside homeland and without foreign dictation.

It called on Amazigh population to boycott the draft constitution, and on the High National Election Commission to consider this statement as an official decision to count out areas affiliated to it from the referendum.
