Head of the Libyan Media Foundation discusses with the national media preparations to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the February 17 revolution.

Tripoli, January 30, 2021 (Lana) - The meeting held by the head of the Libyan Media Foundation, Muhammad Omar Baiyu, this afternoon, Saturday, was devoted to the directors of the channels and media of the Foundation to discuss readiness and preparations for the celebrations of the tenth anniversary of the February revolution, and the role of the official national media in Keeping up with and covering this national event in all Libyan regions and cities.

At the outset of this meeting, which was held at the Foundation’s office in Tripoli, Baiyu stressed the need to develop a plan of action for all national media on this occasion through which media and press coverage focus on conducting dialogues, seminars and meetings about this important event and highlighting the goals and principles of the revolution, foremost of which is the civil state, the freedom of expression and the media.

Baiyu, called to form a unified media committee to follow up the celebrations in all regions, and to work on issuing a unified slogan for all channels that symbolizes and expresses the revolution and its goals in building the new Libya state - the state of freedoms, law and institutions.

The head of the Libyan Media Foundation warned that this year’s celebrations coincide with the exacerbation of the dangers of the Corona epidemic in the world, and the increasing number of infected people in Libya, which necessitates the national media to play its great awareness-raising role by alerting citizens and celebrations to the need to adhere to measures to prevent this deadly virus and take the necessary precautions include spacing, wearing masks and disinfecting places that may witness popular gatherings.

During the meeting, Baiyu mentioned that the Libyan Media Foundation is currently working on establishing a Libyan TV and Radio network, which will be a unified media network that includes all television and audio media channels in Libya, thus liberating the national media from the bureaucracy through self-resources in addition to the resources of the public treasury.

The participants in the meeting discussed the coordination mechanism between the official media and the exchange of expertise and technical capabilities, including direct unified linking of programs and coverage of celebrations, in addition to providing the necessary requirements that they need, including financial and technical support.
