GNA Ministry of Defense Mourns Victims of Explosion at Marine Academy in Janzour.

Tripoli, 20 January 2021(Lana) GNA Ministry of Defense has mourned the victims of the terrible explosion which rocked the Marine Academy in Janzour last night killing three officers including the Commander of the Academy Ahmed Ayub and the Commander of the Maritime College Brigadier Salem Abu Salah. 

The GNA Minister of Defense Salahu Eddin Al Namroush offered on behalf of all affiliates of the military sincere condolences. Our hearts and minds are with the relatives and friends of the victims at this difficult time, he said.

The Spokesman of the Navy forces Masoud Abdul Samad said the explosion which also killed a civilian named Mohamed Khalifa and injured 4 others, was caused by smoke build up after fire broke out in the special mission force warehouse.

Libyan Army staff sources told the Libyan news agency an official funeral would be conducted by the Army Marine Staff at Abu Sitta Sea Base in Tripoli on Wednesday.
