 Italy Welcomes UN Appointment of Jan Kubis as Envoy to Libya.

Rome, 19 January 2021(Lana) Italy has welcomed the appointment of Jan Kubis  as the new UN Envoy to Libya . In a memo issued yesterday, the Foreign Ministry pledged support for the new envoy , and commitment to the work of the UN Mission  in Libya to restore stability to the country.

Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio expressed his appreciation for the UN Special Representative Stephanie Williams for the progress she was able to make on all tracks which is essential and should be maintained.

 The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres appointed Kubis as the new Special Representative and Head of the UN Mission in Libya , expressing his appreciation of the strong leadership that Stephanie Williams was able to  display  as the acting head of the mission in pushing the political process in the country.
