Representatives of the parliament and the state affirm their readiness to make political dialogue opportunities successful.

Rabat, November 06, 2020 (Lana) - The consultative session of
representatives of the electoral constituencies of the House of
Representatives and the Supreme Council of State concluded on
Thursday in Bouznika, Morocco, within the framework of the efforts
exerted to make the upcoming Libyan political dialogue to succeed,
which will be held in Tunis this November.
According to a statement issued at the end of the two-day
consultative session, representatives of the House of Representatives
and the Supreme Council of State in the political dialogue (13 + 13)
emphasized the importance of political dialogue and their willingness
to support its course and enhance its chances of success.
According to the statement, the dialogue teams concluded the
importance of the state and parliament bearing the responsibility of
maintaining the democratic path, and embodying the full Libyan
ownership of the political process in a way that achieves the desired
goals of the dialogue, priority among them the unification of state
institutions and enabling the executive authority to prepare for the
conduct of legislative and presidential elections on a constitutional
basis.
The two sides discussed how to manage the Libyan political
dialogue as it is purely Libyan ownership, and agree on
decision-making mechanisms through political dialogue, in addition to
the legal and professional criteria for selecting figures who hold
the highest positions in the executive authority and the priorities
of the executive authority in the preliminary stage.
The first round of dialogue between the representatives of the
House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the State was
held from 6 to 10 September last, while the second round was held
between 2 and 6 October.
The two rounds culminated in the signing of a draft agreement on the
criteria for selecting sovereign office holders in compliance with
Article 15 of the Skhirat Agreement signed in December 2015.
