Rabat, 30 August 2020(Lana) Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser
Bourita has called for settling the issue of legitimacy once and for
all in Libya, after a transition period to be followed by elections,
considering the ceasefire and declaring Sirte and Jufra demilitarized
zones, very important issues.
'The meeting with the Acting UN Special Envoy to Libya was an
opportunity to remind everybody of the position of the Kingdom of
Morocco to the Libyan crisis, which envisions a solution that cannot
but be a Libyan, and cannot but be peaceful and thirdly the solution
is a political one, Boutita said at press conference here on
Saturday.
As for the announcements by the Head of the Presidency Council
Fayez Al Serraj and Speaker of Parliament Ageela Saleh of the
ceasefire last week, Bourita said 'the UN is the only proper umbrella
under which a solution to the crisis can be found.'
'The recent positive developments regarding a ceasefire and
declaring Sirte and Jufra demilitarized zones are very important, and
in the right direction towards creating a proper environment for a
building a constructive political track, Bourita added.
Morocco has no hidden agenda in Libya, nor a solution, but has a
goodwill to assist Libyan brothers to get into a debate to resolve
their crisis in concert with the work of the UN.
