Pulbished on:Tripoli, August 23, 2024 AD (Wal) - The French embassy in Libya announced its joining the United Nations Support Mission in Libya in expressing its concern over the risk of escalating tensions in response to potential attempts to use force.
The French embassy called in a statement today, Friday, for all Libyan parties to dialogue with each other to resolve their differences peacefully..
The United Nations Support Mission in Libya had expressed its deep concern over reports of the mobilization of forces in the capital, Tripoli, including the threat of using force to resolve the crisis surrounding the Central Bank of Libya.
The mission called in a statement on Thursday night - for immediate calm, reducing tension and restraint, stressing that there is no alternative to dialogue as the only solution to all contentious issues.
The United Nations Support Mission in Libya said it is conducting intensive contacts with all concerned parties to reach a peaceful agreement to resolve the crisis over the Central Bank, warning that the display of military force and armed confrontations in populated neighborhoods is unacceptable and threatens the lives, security and tranquility of civilians. The UN mission considered that these moves cannot produce an acceptable or practical solution to the current crisis or the prolonged political stalemate, but rather see them as an additional reason that exacerbates the crisis and reduces the chances of reaching a political solution.
