The government of national unity signed a number of memorandums of understanding with the Italian government.

Rome, June 7, 2023 AD (LANA) - The government of national unity headed by Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba signed with the Italian government, headed by Georgia Meloni, in Rome today, Wednesday, a number of memorandums of understanding.

The government of national unity stated on its official page that the two parties signed, during a meeting, memorandums of understanding in the fields of oil and natural gas, joint investment in the submerged areas in the Mediterranean basin and in the land areas in the Ghadames basin, electrical connection, immigration and border protection, and activating the contracts for the water and sewage treatment plants, and an agreement to link Libya with Italy with a submarine cable.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed following up on the work of the bilateral committees to lift the air embargo on Libyan civil aviation in Italy and setting a deadline for that, and the necessary steps to be taken to establish the Libyan-Italian Higher Committee, and the convening of the Libyan-Italian Economic Forum on the sidelines of the committee's first meeting.

The Prime Minister stressed, according to the source, the need to take actual steps to facilitate the granting of visas to Libyan citizens, stressing the importance of bilateral relations between Libya and Italy, and supporting and developing them in all fields in a way that achieves the common interests of the two peoples.
