Foreign Ministry condemns burning of the Quran in Denmark.

  Tripoli, March 26, 20923 (LANA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity has condemned the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran by a number of extremists in the Danish capital, Copenhagen.

     The ministry said in a statement "This act is considered a blatant infringement that provokes the feelings of Muslims around the world, especially as we are in the blessed month of Ramadan".

   The ministry renewed its call to adhere to the values of coexistence and tolerance between the monotheistic religions, and called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and take a "serious stand" against hate speech and systematic "Islamophobia".

In its statement, published on its official Facebook page, the ministry urged for the need to intensify international efforts to strengthen global dialogue on promoting a culture of tolerance and peace, on the basis of respect for human rights and the diversity of religions and beliefs.
