Ageela and US delegation stress need to create conditions for holding presidential and parliamentary elections.

Benghazi, 20 March 2023 (Lana) The Speaker of the House of Representatives Ageela Saleh discussed on Monday in Benghazi with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs, Barbara Leaf, and her accompanying delegation, the latest developments in Libya, and the need to hold presidential and parliamentary elections.

  During the meeting, which was attended by the Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, and the Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy to Libya, Leslie Ordman, Ageela reviewed the legislation achieved by the House of Representatives necessary to hold the elections, and the Council's determination to elect members of the Joint Committee for the Preparation of Electoral Laws in accordance with the Thirteenth Constitutional Amendment during Monday's session. According to the spokesman for the House of Representatives, the two sides stressed the need to create all conditions on the ground for the holding of presidential and parliamentary elections.
