Norland: We support the Commission's efforts to achieve free elections.

Tripoli, March 9, 2023 (LANA) - Chairman of the High National Election Commission, Imad Al-Sayeh, met, Thursday, the US Special Envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the two members of the Commission’s board, Abdul Hakim Al-Shaab and Rabab Halab, at the Office of the Council of the Commission in Tripoli. 

  HNEC stated on its Facebook page that the meeting discussed the latest developments in the course of the electoral process, and also reviewed ways to support national proposals and endeavors that seek peace and stability and aim to achieve consensus among political parties in order to achieve the expected benefits.

During the meeting, Ambassador Norland affirmed his country's continued support for the Commission's efforts to achieve free and credible elections that reflect the will of the Libyan voter, appreciating at the same time the efforts undertaken by the Commission in dealing with the previous electoral stages.

  The Commission said, "The visit comes within the framework of the United States' support for the electoral process in Libya."
