Rome 8 March 2023 (Lana) The Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, affirmed that his country supports the Libyan Coast Guard in order to avoid tragedies at sea, referring to the sinking of a migrant boat off the coast of Calabria, southern Italy, on February 26.

According to the Italian News Agency, Tajani stressed during the annual meeting of financial police officers, yesterday, the importance of preventive interventions against irregular flows to avoid drowning incidents.

"We have to deal with the problem of immigration to avoid tragedies, and it is necessary to intervene preventively, because then it is difficult to save hundreds of lives," he added.
