Saleh and Richard Norlad are discussing ways to hold presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.

Benghazi, March 07, 2023 (LANA) - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, "Aqila Saleh," discussed with the Special Envoy of the United States of America, "Richard Norland," accompanied by the Chargé d'Affairs at the embassy, "Leslie Ordman," the developments in the situation in Libya.

The meeting, which was held today, Tuesday, at the headquarters of the House of Representatives in the city of Benghazi, in the presence of the Director of the Office of Presidential Affairs in the Council, "Awad Al-Fitouri," dealt with ways to hold presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible, according to what was stated by the official spokesman for the Council, "Abdullah Blehaq."

"Saleh" said during the meeting that the House of Representatives has fulfilled all the necessary legislation to hold the presidential and parliamentary elections through the thirteenth constitutional amendment and the presidential and parliamentary election laws.

According to "Blehaq", the Speaker of Parliament, "Aqila Saleh," confirmed that there is no obstacle to holding the elections in terms of the necessary legislation to conduct them.

He also stressed the need for a unified government throughout the country to organize the elections, in addition to the readiness of the High National Elections Commission to conduct this national election.
