Al-Dbaiba assures Bathily of his government's support for UN mission conducive to elections.

Tripoli, March 07, 2023 (LANA) - The head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid al-Dbaiba, has reaffirmed his government's support for the measures taken by the UN mission in Libya geared towards elections.

He said his government is serious and continues working with international parties to reach elections, and that it formed a team to contribute to the completion and modernization of the constitutional base to be ready for realizing the Libyan dream.

During his meeting, Tuesday, with the UN envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily, and his political team, in his first meeting after his briefing to the UN Security Council on Libya, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Najla Al-Mangoush, Al-Dabaiba stated the readiness of his government and its executive tools to hold parliamentary and presidential elections.

According to the media office of the Prime Minister, Bathily briefed al-Dbaiba on his regional and international tours and the outcomes of his meetings in New York, stressing that he supports his plan to hold elections, as the main goal of the mission's work.

  Practical measures to implement his proposal, so that it is feasible and expresses the Libyans' true desire to hold fair and just elections, were also discussed.

In turn, Minister of Foreign Affairs Najla Al-Mangoush said - according to the same source - that the countries in connections with the Libyan file, with which ‘We are constantly communicating, are supportive of holding fair and just elections and ending the transitional stages’, stressing the continuation of international communication’s support and efforts to make this election a success.
