Chambers of Commerce in Libya and Lebanon sign agreement calling for speedy start of procedures for direct flights.

Beirut, 13 November, 2022 (Lana) - The General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture signed with the Federation of Chambers of Commerce in Lebanon, and agreements that provides for the speedy start of direct flights procedures and facilitating procedures for treating oncology patients in internationally accredited Lebanese hospitals.

This came at the conclusion of the visit of the President of the General Union, Mohamed Al-Raid to Lebanon and his meeting with his Lebanese counterpart and economic and commercial officials, which focused on discussing the possibility of enhancing private sector cooperation in both countries, and achieving a kind of economic integration in many fields, including medicine, managing hospitals, and facilitating Libyan medical tourism in internationally accredited Lebanese clinics, especially in the fields of oncology, infertility, orthopedic, neurological, eye and heart diseases.

During the talks, Al-Raid expressed his satisfaction with Lebanon's readiness to respond to the calls of the Federation of Chambers to facilitate treatment of patients, especially tumor patients, stressing that this file is a Libyan priority.

Sources of the Chamber of Commerce told the Libyan News Agency that the Libyan delegation headed by the President of the Federation and the delegation accompanying him concluded, during this visit, a number of agreements in the health file, including that the Federation of Lebanese Chambers continue, and arrange for technical meetings to facilitate the procedures for starting direct flights, in addition to working on Running a marine passenger line from the capital, Tripoli, to the Lebanese city of Tripoli, and facilitating procedures for Libyan students wishing to study at university to obtain a master’s and doctorate degrees in Lebanese universities with international classification.

The two parties also agreed to establish a permanent platform for meeting, dialogue and organizing various commercial activities, under the name of the Libyan-Lebanese Cooperation Council for Trade and Investment, in addition to a preliminary understanding to organize a joint cooperation forum for trade and investment, in which Libyan and Lebanese head of institutions, specialists, officials, businessmen and investors will participate, during The period of the twentieth or twenty-first of December this year in Beirut, and the organization of a commercial exhibition in Libya under the name “Made in Lebanon” was also proposed, and its date was proposed in mid-March of next year.

At the end of the meeting, the President of the General Federation of Chambers signed a memorandum of understanding with the Federation of Chambers of Lebanon, to start working on implementing what was agreed upon during this meeting.
