Al-Lafi discusses with German ambassador local and international efforts to solve political crisis in country.

  Tripoli, 13 September, 2022 (Lana) - Deputy President of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, received, Tuesday, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Libya, Michael Ohnmacht, to discuss latest developments of the political situation in Libya.

   Council sources said that the meeting, which was held at the presidential council's office, discussed local and international efforts to resolve the political crisis in the country, and to provide full support to the new UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily.

      During the meeting, they discussed ways to complete the constitutional path between the House of Representatives and the state, and to go to the electoral due process that the Libyan people aspire to, and to provide the factors for its success and acceptance of its results from all parties.

      The deputy in the Presidential Council valued Germany's role and efforts to get out of the Libyan crisis, stressing the importance of consensus among all parties to the political process on a constitutional basis to achieve the hopes of all Libyans to reach the elections.

     For his part, the German ambassador praised the coordination of the Presidential Council with all political parties, the consolidation of the ceasefire, the success of the national reconciliation project, and its continuous cooperation with the international efforts and countries supporting the stability of Libya, in order to find a solution to the current political crisis.
