Al-Koni discusses with French Envoy to Libya, Paul Soler, and Council’s efforts to hold elections according to a constitutional basis.

   Tripoli, 8 September 2022 (Lana) Vice President of Presidential Council Moussa El Koni received on Thursday the French Envoy to Libya, Paul Soler, who conveyed the greetings of French President Emanuel Macron to the Presidential Council, affirming French support for the Council in its efforts to achieve stability and security in Libya. The meeting, which was attended by the Ambassador of France, Beatrice Le Fraber, discussed the latest developments in Libya and the efforts of the Presidential Council to hold elections according to a constitutional basis that satisfies the all parties.

Al-Koni expressed his hope that France will play a role to solve the Libyan crisis during its presidency of the European Union, and its assumption of the presidency of the United Nations Security Council next month.

The French envoy reiterated his country's firm position to support Libyan efforts to formulate the optimal solution to the problems of the stage, in accordance with a Libyan vision and full sovereignty of Libyans over their affairs.

  The French envoy praised what the Joint Military Commission 5+5 has achieved, and stressed the key role of the Presidential Council in the success of these steps.
