Presidential Council welcomes appointment of Senegalese diplomat Abdallah Batelli as the UN Envoy to Libya.

  Tripoli, 3 September 2022 (Lana) – The Presidential Council welcomed the appointment of Senegalese diplomat Abdallah Batelli as the new UN envoy to Libya, succeeding Slovak Jan Kubić.

The Presidential Council praised in a statement the Senegalese diplomat's experience and familiarity with the Libyan file, highlighting his efforts while assessing and studying the structure of the United Nations Mission to Libya.

The Council underscored the role of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in supporting the efforts of Libyans to reach peaceful solutions, through its mission in Libya, to go to the parliamentary and presidential elections as soon as possible, expressing hope that Batelli will contribute his vast experience to helping Libyans transition to a democratic state to which the all Libyan people aspire.
