President of the Presidential Council discusses with sheikhs, elders and dignitaries of Libya developments in the country, and a number of issues related to national reconciliation.

 Tripoli, 26 June 2022 ( Lana) President of the Presidential Council Mohammed Al Mnefi met in Tripoli on Saturday sheikhs, elders and dignitaries of Libya to discuss developments in the country, a number of issues of local affairs, related primarily to national reconciliation, and political challenges facing the country at the current stage.

 The meeting, which included representatives of the eastern, western and southern regions and cities of Libya discussed the national reconciliation project, which the Presidential Council revealed its strategic vision yesterday, supporting the efforts of the Joint Military Commission 5+5, and upcoming electoral entitlement.

During the meeting, the elders and dignitaries stressed importance of national reconciliation, to maintain social peace and the security and unity of the country, expressing their readiness to participate in this national project, to overcome the current crisis, praising the efforts of the Presidential Council in this file, and demanding that the voice of reason be given priority, to end all transitional stages, through the holding of parliamentary and presidential elections simultaneously and as soon as possible.

For his part, the President of the Presidential Council praised the role of sheikhs, wise men and dignitaries in Libya in supporting state institutions, especially the Presidential Council, stressing the need for their active contribution and participation in the national reconciliation project and stability in the country.

 During the meeting, Al Mnefi noted that the Presidential Council continued to push all parties involved in the political process to agree on a legal framework for holding elections, with the participation of all, fulfilling the aspirations of the Libyan people, and moving forward to stability and lasting peace.
